CHANNELAIRE CHORUS, a chapter of Sweet Adelines International invites women of all ages to join in singing a cappella, four-part harmony. The 120-member chorus meets weekly. CHINESE BRUSH PAINTING AND CALLIGRAPHY ASSOCIATION OF THOUSAND OAKS - The association began in 1995 when a Chinese brush painting master, Mr. Yang Hong Duang of mainland China came to visit his son in Thousand Oaks. The principal of the Thousand Oaks Chinese Language school invited him to each Chinese brush painting to the parents of the students in the language school. The students in his class not only continued to paint but they formed the Thousand Oaks Chinese Brush Painting and Calligraphy Association to promote the Chinese Arts in the Conejo Valley. This association is now affiliated with the Conejo Chinese Cultural Association of Thousand Oaks. The class meets every other Saturday morning during the school year at the Thousand Oaks High School. The class is open to all who are interested in Chinese brush painting. The cost is $15 per lesson plus a small room fee. CONEJO VALLEY YOUTH ORCHESTRAS The Conejo Valley Youth Orchestra has been part of the history in the Conejo Valley since 1961. Since 1998, the orchestra program has grown from 65 musicians in one orchestra to over 250 in 4 orchestras. The youth orchestras are completely self directed and funded through a private nonprofit organization and do not rely on state or federal funding. "Reaching and Inspiring Youth Through Music," is their mission and motto. They strive to provide the very best music education in a safe, fun environment and provide memorable experiences for the students.
